African Black soaps are called "Alata" in Ghana, and "Dudu Osun" in Nigeria. Black soaps are an important part of African purification rituals, and ceremonial rites of passage. These wonderful soaps are ancient products that are still used daily, and highly treasured in African households, and to date, are used in conjunction with Shea butter. These soaps are extremely difficult to make, and for African women the process involves long hours of intense labor.

They are used effectively for removing body odors, rashes, acne, ringworm, miscellaneous skin ailments, to thoroughly cleanse and even skin tones, and to help remove and prevent blemishes on the skin. The production and importing of black soaps are a strong economic base for women in Africa. The authentic, original recipes vary from region to region, and remain highly guarded against outside communities.

Healing Qualities: Liquid Black soap tremendously aids in preventing and healing acne, deep skin cleansing, preventing premature wrinkles, ridding the scalp of dandruff, eliminating bumps and spots on the skin while improving texture, and adding moisture and brilliance. Liquid black soaps also balance oily skin, assist with healing eczema, while aiding in prevention of premature wrinkling, and is also commonly used to remove fungus from body areas. These wonderful soaps are also excellent for washing both natural and chemically treated hair, as it leaves it well conditioned, and sensually soft.
